Set the language of the employee app (English or Spanish)

Employees can use AppyShift in English or Spanish. Pick a default for your company, or let each person's phone decide. Each employee can still choose their own language.

For managers and admins Updated Oct 2, 2026

Pick the default language

  1. In the menu, under Settings, open Company and select Company Settings. Open the Employee portal tab.
  2. In Employee Portal Wording, choose Employee app language (1):
    • Each person's phone or browser language: phones set to Spanish get Spanish. Everyone else gets English.
    • English or Español (Spanish): everyone starts in that language.
Company Settings with the Employee app language list marked (1)
The Employee app language list (1) is in Employee Portal Wording.
  3. Select Save Employee Wording.

What employees see

  • Employees can still choose English or Español themselves, on the sign-in page or under Me. Their choice wins over the default.
  • The app, their AppyShift emails and their push notifications use their language. When an employee hasn't chosen, emails and push notifications use the default you picked, or English.
  • Text messages stay in English for everyone.
  • Your own pages, and the emails managers get, stay in English.
Note

Words your company typed show as you typed them in both languages: job and location names, announcements, documents, checklist items and notes. Government forms, like Form I-9, stay in English, with a note in Spanish.

Tip

Employees can read Use the app in Spanish (Español) in their own Help Center.
