Before you start

  • Turn on text alerts and confirm your number with the code. The words only work from that number.
  • Your company chooses which texts it takes. If a word doesn't work for you, ask your manager.

Text a word

Text one of these words to 855-502-2779, the number your AppyShift alerts come from. Capitals don't matter.

TextWhat you get
SHIFTSYour next shifts on the posted schedule, for the next 2 weeks.
HOURSYour hours this workweek, and how many are approved or still waiting for approval.
BALANCEThe time off you have left this year.
OFF and a dateAsks your manager for time off, like OFF 10/15, OFF 10/15-10/17 or OFF tomorrow sick. Add a reason after the date if you like. We reply when it's sent, and you get an update when your manager decides.

Answer a text from us

Some texts ask you to reply with a word. Reply with just that word:

  • CLAIM to ask for the open shift we texted you about.
  • CONFIRM to confirm the shift we texted you about.
  • OK when we ask you to check your new schedule.

Links in our texts only go to appyshift.com.

Good to know

  • Send the word on its own. "SHIFTS" works; "what are my shifts?" doesn't.
  • If you text a word your employer doesn't take, we text back the words you can use.
  • If more than one employer uses AppyShift for you, the answer covers each one. For OFF, we ask which employer, and you reply like OFF 1 10/15.
  • Also texting with a hiring team on this number? Then a text that starts with one of these words but goes on, like "Confirm, see you Thursday", could be for either. We don't send it anywhere: we ask which one you meant. Send the word on its own (for OFF, just the dates) to use it.
  • Time off by text works for up to 31 days, starting today or later. For anything else, use the app.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time.
